I ran a fairly easy 9:46min/mile, my heart rate averaged 146... keep in mind that my max hr is about 188-190. From time to time, I like to call myself athletic, albeit by my own terms. I spend a good amount of time reading Runners World or rec.running or whatever other rag I can get my hands on which, for better or worse, keeps me pretty busy. Keep in mind... I am still a good 30-40 lbs overweight.

This year at the LA marathon (that I participated in), I was delighted to find my self starting the race next to a group of what I would call fucking nutballs who were running it barefoot. Yes, the asphalt was as hot as you could make up in a blog, and nope, I am not making this up. But, the LA Marathon is not what this blog is about.

A couple of weeks ago, I found myself online looking at runningbarefoot.org and recognized the same fucking nutballs that I saw at the LA Marathon. I found myself reading their material... and, it's quite interesting (to spare you a crazy long post, i'll let you read it for yourself and hope you gleam why I found it interesting). So over the past few weeks, I have been walking around barefoot, running a little (200 years at a time) barefoot, and trying to toughen up my feet.

So... yesterday, at lunch, I attempted three miles barefoot.

Let me put a fine point on an already long post:

The next time that I indicate my desire to run barefoot for three miles on an asphalt bike path, kindly duct tape ten to fifteen pine cones to a wiffle ball bat and shove it up my ass, twist it around, and then clean me like a pipe cleaner. The resulting pain will be roughly the same, and I won't have to take off my shoes.

Although... You can't wait to get back to the on days. You can't wait to get back running. This is kind of strange to me because really... You only run for a small portion of your day, with the exception of the long run days, but that's not what I am talking about.

Back to the short days... those short days.. the one hour run, 1/2 hour run... or whatever... mean so much that you think about them during your off day. It just kind of shows how important your runs are to you...

Well... our tuesday run was ok.... not great, just ok.
We spent a bit of time walking... maybe a half mile all together.
But who cares? we were out there at 6:00 burning calories that otherwise would have stayed unburnt in our fat asses....

I still feel pretty good, just gotta fight the feeling of regret that all of the miles were not actually run...

Really, it's no big deal.

Just got back from another run...
The fog is really neat at 6:00 am. Probably not. If I did... would she eventually enjoy it as much as I do?
